| ENTRAIN | Enhancing renewable heat planning for improving the air quality of communities https://programme2014-20.interreg-central.eu/Content.Node/ENTRAIN.html | INTERREG Central Europe 2014-2020 | 2019-2022 | District heating systems fed by heat produced from renewable sources and focusing on quality has been one of the main objectives of the ENTRAIN project: building on existing experiences and collecting available knowledge to foster the diffusion of RES DH plants operating on quality standards and thus assuring economic and environmental sustainability. | district heating, renewable energy, toolkit, training, energy planning | Ambiente Italia Italy | Chiara Lazzari info@ambienteitalia.it; chiara.lazzari@ambienteitalia.it |
| HEAT-35 | Transforming district heating systems of Central Europe into sustainable and efficient heating and cooling systems by 2035 https://www.interreg-central.eu/projects/heat-35/ | INTERREG Central Europe 2021-2027 | 2024-2026 | Many district heating systems in central Europe still rely heavily on fossil fuels. New approaches utilize various heat sources but are complex to implement. The HEAT 35 project supports eight regions and cities in the transition process to run their district heating systems on 50% of renewables and waste heat by 2035. The partners involve district heating operators and experts to design new solutions. They also prepare guidelines and tools for the operators to implement these solutions, supported by a quality management system that helps to ensure that emission standards are respected. | district heating, waste heat, renewable energy, energy transition | Energy institute Hrvoje Požar Croatia | Ilja Drmač idrmac@eihp.hr |
| REHEATEAST | Building local partnerships for reducing the fossil energy demand of district heating systems in the Eastern Danube Region https://interreg-danube.eu/projects/reheateast | Interreg Danube Region Programme 2021-2027 | 2024-2026 | REHEATEAST aims to reduce DHC systems’ fossil energy demand and to integrate renewable energy and waste heat. It shall encourage multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral, public-private cooperation and develop, test, promote and distribute applicable (process, technical and nature-based) solutions catalysing and supporting the implementation of large-scale building and systems rehabilitation programs, as well as climate adaptation measures. Transnational cooperation enables the adaptation of existing good practices in similar contexts, and the joint development of adaptable cooperation and optimisation models focused on integrating digitalisation, standardisation, certification and green procurement opportunities, involving all relevant stakeholders (incl. public authorities, consumers, financial institutions, utilities, media, technology suppliers and construction firms). Developed models are tested in pilot actions. | district heating, heating-cooling, energy poverty, waste heat, renewable energy, | Pannon European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Hungary | Judit Kis-Pongrácz judit.kispongracz@pannonegtc.eu |
